Overview

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining the company's Linux/Unix environment
  • Design, planning, implementation, configuration, and administration of Linux/Unix application servers
  •  Assist with the development and management of a robust DR environment
  • Maintain a system of 24/7 on-call support for applications and servers
  • Install, upgrade and document new IT systems architecture, servers, and systems
  • Day to day operation and maintenance of the corporate servers 
  • RedHat / CentOS / Debian experience
  • Experience with running web servers via Apache / Nginx / Lighttpd / others  
  • Understanding of DNS basics 
  • Familiarity with Amazon AWS, particularly EC2 and Cloudfront 
  •  Cooperation with IT GE in the projects and tasks
  • Reporting to IT Manager
  •  Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years working in a large-scale Linux server administration role.
  • 3+ years of System Engineering experience with Linux Server (RedHat/CentOS/Debian) and associated technical support.
  • Solid understanding of different protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, IPTables, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one of the data center orchestration and configuration management tools (Ansible or Puppet Master is preferred).
  • Understanding of DNS basics
  • Experience with open source monitoring and methodologies.
  • Experience with running web servers via Apache / Nginx / Lighttpd / others
  • Ability to troubleshoot new technologies used to design web pages (html5, JSON, YML, XML)
  • Strong analysis & troubleshooting skills, and the ability to operate well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop/modify scripts (Python, PHP, Nginx, Bash script) for job automation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to solve complex problems.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and eager to constantly improve and expand the skill set.
  • Excellent verbal and written English-language communication skills.
  • B.S. degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience with cloud computing (Amazon AWS, Google computing cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware/vCenter, etc.)
  • Experience with Docker container and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes/Swarm).
