Overview
The Alumni Engagement Officer co-builds and runs the Primary Healthcare Alumni-Ambassadors Program. This is a rare opportunity to take a designed program from launch to living community: cultivating relationships with the graduating Doctor-leaders, delivering the pathways through which they stay engaged, and sustaining the HFA network that connects them to one another and to the diaspora.
Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Programs and working closely with the Head of the Healthcare Leadership Program, this role is the operational backbone of the Ambassadors community — HFA provides the infrastructure, brokering, and support; the Ambassadors drive the substance. The first cohort will co-design the program, so this role suits someone who thrives on building something new, iterating with the people it serves, and holding many relationships at once. In the first year the focus is on the engagement areas and structures that are ready to launch at graduation, including the HFA network, with other areas building in a later phase as the program is co-designed and as funding, partnerships, and scale allow.
- Lead the co-design process with the first cohort and the Programs team, extending exit interviews and surveys, and facilitating co-design sessions.
- Deliver and institutionalize the Alumni Ambassador induction process for every cohort.
- In collaboration with HFA’s Advancement team, develop the program’s branding and visual identity.
- Pilot the program with Cohort 1 and refine it for Cohort 2.
- Maintain a light, sustainable engagement rhythm — newsletters, annual gatherings, and thematic working groups.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in community engagement, alumni or membership relations, program coordination, or events.
- Excellent organizational skills, able to manage many relationships, events, and priorities at once.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort building programs from the ground up in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
