Overview

We are seeking a skilled AS400 COBOL Developer to design, develop, and support applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. You will focus on maintaining and enhancing business critical systems while ensuring reliability, performance, and data integrity in a production environment. Project Overview: You will be contributing to a system that supports core business operations, handling high volume transaction processing and batch workloads. The project emphasizes stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of legacy applications while integrating with modern systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain COBOL applications on the IBM i platform
  • Analyze business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Write, test, and debug code to support new and existing functionality
  • Investigate and resolve production issues to ensure system stability
  • Work with DB2 400 databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • Manage and support batch processing and job scheduling activities
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements where needed
  • Collaborate with analysts, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation aligned with development standards
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming
  • Proven experience working on IBM i (AS400) systems
  • Solid understanding of DB2/400 and SQL
  • Experience with batch jobs and transaction processing systems
  • Familiarity with debugging and performance tuning on AS400
  • Experience in production support environments
Nice To Have:
  • Experience in banking or financial services systems
  • Basic knowledge of RPG or CL
  • Familiarity with system integration and data interfaces
