We are looking for a Data Governance Consultant to join a forward-thinking environment that embraces hybrid work and fosters professional growth. In this role, you will translate governance principles into everyday practice within a complex retail data ecosystem spanning SAP, custom systems, and hybrid cloud platforms. Occasional business trips to Germany will be required to collaborate with on-site teams. Client: Our client is a major German retail company operating across Central Europe and undergoing a significant digital transformation. The Data & Analytics team is building a modern, multi-cloud, hybrid data platform supporting advanced analytics, AI, and governance. Project Overview: The Data Governance Consultant will design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks to ensure data is trusted, secure, and fit for analytics and AI. This role focuses on operationalizing governance—from policies and standards to data ownership, quality, metadata, and compliance—enabling scalable analytics and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and operationalize data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship, and governance committees.
  • Define and enforce standards for data quality, metadata, and access control.
  • Support data lifecycle management and compliance processes.
  • Facilitate governed data intake and collaboration across analytics teams.
  • Train and support stakeholders on governance best practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in data governance or related roles.
  • Experience designing governance frameworks and stewardship models.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud/hybrid data platforms and data catalog tools.
  • Knowledge of data quality, metadata management, and compliance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in retail or enterprise environments.
Nice To Have:
  • SAP data governance knowledge.
  • Experience with governance committees and change management.
  • Understanding AI/ML governance considerations.
