SoftConstruct is looking for a Payroll Auditor.

Responsibilities:
  • Scrutinize payroll records to verify the accuracy of employee compensation, including wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other forms of remuneration
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing payroll processes, tax withholdings, benefits administration, and other related areas
  • Conduct audits of payroll procedures and systems to identify discrepancies, errors, or potential areas of improvement. This involves analyzing data, comparing figures, and investigating anomalies
  • Verify that tax withholdings, such as income tax, social security, Medicare, and other deductions, are calculated correctly and in compliance with relevant tax laws
  • Evaluate benefit programs such as health insurance, retirement plans, and employee stock options to ensure accurate calculations and proper administration
  • Maintain accurate documentation of audit findings, reports, and recommendations for corrective actions
  • Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders, including HR personnel, finance departments, and management
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll procedures, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to address payroll-related inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide guidance on payroll policies and procedures
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws, labor regulations, and industry standards related to payroll administration to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices
  • Handle sensitive employee information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years experience in payroll administration, auditing, or accounting
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and labor laws
  • Proficiency in ArmSoft Wages and MS Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ethical conduct and the ability to maintain confidentiality
