Overview

We are looking for an experienced Security Operations Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Firebird AI’s physical security program. This role is responsible for protecting Firebird’s people, critical infrastructure, facilities, information, and business operations across our AI data center campus. You will own all aspects of physical security, including access control, security operations, contractor security, investigations, emergency preparedness, and security technologies, while ensuring compliance with internal policies, customer expectations, and international security standards. Working closely with Operations, Infrastructure, Engineering, Facilities, Legal, HR, and external partners, you will establish scalable security processes that support a rapidly growing, mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute Firebird AI's physical security strategy across all facilities.
  • Oversee day-to-day security operations to ensure the protection of employees, critical infrastructure, and company assets.
  • Manage outsourced security providers and monitor service quality against established SLAs.
  • Maintain effective perimeter security, patrol programs, restricted-area controls, and physical protection measures.
  • Continuously assess and improve security operations to support business growth and operational resilience.
  • Own the end-to-end access management process for employees, contractors, vendors, consultants, and visitors.
  • Manage access requests, badge issuance, modifications, suspensions, and revocations.
  • Conduct periodic access reviews to ensure permissions remain appropriate.
  • Oversee visitor management procedures and maintain accurate access records for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Manage the lifecycle, performance, and continuous improvement of Firebird's physical security systems, including CCTV, Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), perimeter protection, alarm monitoring, visitor management, and Security Command Center operations.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, preventive maintenance, vendor support, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure maximum system reliability and availability.
  • Define security requirements for contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Coordinate security onboarding, site inductions, and compliance with Firebird security policies.
  • Monitor third-party security performance and investigate security-related non-compliance.
  • Support security oversight throughout construction, commissioning, and operational activities.
  • Conduct regular physical security risk and vulnerability assessments across Firebird facilities.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce operational and physical security risks.
  • Maintain the organization's physical security risk register.
  • Participate in facility design and infrastructure reviews to ensure security requirements are incorporated from the planning stage.
  • Lead investigations into security incidents, including unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, insider threats, workplace violence, and other security breaches.
  • Coordinate incident response, evidence collection, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and executive reporting.
  • Monitor incident trends and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring security risks.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly test emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, lockdown protocols, and crisis management processes.
  • Coordinate emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and collaboration with emergency services and relevant authorities.
  • Support the physical security aspects of Firebird's business continuity and resilience planning.
  • Plan and coordinate security arrangements for executive leadership, customers, investors, government officials, technology partners, and other high-profile visitors.
  • Ensure secure site access, visitor movement, and compliance with Firebird security protocols during all visits.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Establish security KPIs, reporting dashboards, and security awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, customer requirements, investor expectations, and internal governance standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and drive continuous improvement across the security program.
  • Develop and implement strategies to safeguard Firebird's critical infrastructure, including GPU clusters, servers, networking equipment, warehouses, spare parts, construction materials, fuel storage, and confidential information.
  • Establish operational controls that minimize loss, damage, theft, and unauthorized access to company assets.
  • Lead and develop Firebird's physical security function, including internal personnel and outsourced security providers.
  • Define security KPIs, operational objectives, and service level expectations.
  • Manage departmental budgets and support long-term security planning.
  • Mentor team members and promote a proactive security culture across the organization.
  • Act as the primary security advisor for physical security matters across Firebird AI.
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong experience managing physical security operations within mission-critical environments such as AI infrastructure, data centers, telecommunications, utilities, airports, industrial facilities, or similar sectors.
  • Proven ability to build and improve physical security programs in complex operational environments.
  • Deep understanding of access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, perimeter protection, and physical security technologies.
  • Experience managing security vendors, guarding services, and third-party contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of incident response, investigations, emergency preparedness, and crisis management.
  • Experience conducting physical security risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High sense of ownership, integrity, and accountability.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
