Overview

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Business Development (BD) Executive to join Synergy’s Business Development team, responsible for acquiring new clients, winning new contracts, and driving the company’s growth as a specialized information technology company serving the global public and nonprofit sectors.

The BD Executive will identify and pursue new business opportunities, manage competitive proposal processes, and contribute to the development of strategic partnerships and client relationships. The role requires a combination of business development, proposal management, market research, and proposal writing skills to develop responsive, compelling, and high-quality proposals for international clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular screening of tendering websites and procurement platforms to identify viable business opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and other procurement opportunities.
  • Contribute to bid/no-bid decisions by assessing eligibility requirements, strategic fit, competitiveness, risks, and resource requirements.
  • Manage the end-to-end proposal development process from opportunity identification through submission.
  • Ensure proposals are fully compliant, responsive, and aligned with client requirements and Synergy’s quality standards.
  • Lead proposal kick-off meetings and facilitate collaborative review sessions.
  • Maintain proposal calendars, schedules, and submission trackers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Directors, Project Managers, Product Managers, sales, and technical teams to propose winning technical solutions.
  • Support the preparation of accurate and competitive proposal budgets and pricing strategies.
  • Coordinate the integration of technical and cost inputs from partner organizations, consultants, and subject-matter experts.
  • Support the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships and consortium relationships.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients, emerging opportunities, industry trends, and donor priorities.
  • Gather and analyze intelligence on competitors, partners, and market developments.
  • Leverage post-submission feedback and debriefs to identify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Development, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, proposal management, grant management, capture management, or a related role, preferably within international development, public sector, or technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and writing competitive proposals in response to RFPs and other procurement opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of business development principles, market research, competitive analysis, and opportunity qualification.
  • Knowledge of donor-funded projects, government procurement processes, or international tendering environments is considered a strong advantage.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information into clear, persuasive, and client-focused content.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and proposal management tools.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Experience working with international organizations, donor agencies, governments, or nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.
